Artificial intelligence is increasingly shaping how people learn, work, access information, navigate opportunities and interact with institutions.
But as AI becomes more present in everyday life, an important question emerges:
"Who gets to participate in deciding how these systems are designed, deployed and governed?"
At Bridge & Bloom Global, we believe the future of AI should not be shaped only by those who build the technology or regulate it. The people and communities whose lives may increasingly be influenced by AI should also have meaningful opportunities to participate in the conversation.
That is the idea behind AI WITH US.
From access to participation
Much of the conversation about inclusion and AI focuses on ensuring that more people can access and use emerging technologies. Access matters. But we believe the conversation must go further.
People should not only be consumers or subjects of AI-enabled systems. They should increasingly have opportunities to become informed participants in conversations about how those systems affect society.
AI WITH US therefore explores two closely connected ideas: representation and choice.
Representation asks whose experiences, perspectives and priorities are present when decisions about AI are made.
Choice asks whether people retain meaningful control as AI systems become increasingly capable of personalising experiences, making recommendations, classifying individuals and influencing decisions.
Together, these questions lead to a broader principle at the heart of the project:
"Technology should expand human agency, not determine human possibility."
Why meaningful choice matters
AI can provide enormous benefits through automation and personalisation. But personalisation also raises important questions.
When should an AI system infer what someone needs?
When should it recommend?
When should it decide?
And when should the individual remain in control?
These questions can arise in areas ranging from education and employment to digital services and access to opportunities.
For Bridge & Bloom, Responsible AI is therefore not simply about whether an AI system works effectively. It is also about whether people can understand, question and meaningfully influence the systems affecting them.
Transparency, human oversight, privacy, contestability and meaningful choice all become part of that conversation.
Bringing community perspectives into AI conversations
Through AI WITH US, Bridge & Bloom Global intends to create spaces where people can explore these questions without needing to be AI engineers or policy specialists.
The initiative will particularly seek to create pathways for perspectives that can be underrepresented in technology-policy conversations, while recognising that no community speaks with one voice.
Rather than speaking for communities, our aim is to create opportunities for people to participate for themselves.
Community engagement will be complemented by dialogue with people working across technology, Responsible AI, research, civil society and policy.
The objective is to create a bridge between lived experience and emerging AI governance conversations.
100 Voices on AI, Choice & Representation
The first proposed pilot under AI WITH US is 100 Voices on AI, Choice & Representation.
Through structured community engagement, the project will explore how people think about AI-mediated decisions, personalisation, transparency, human oversight and meaningful choice.
The insights gathered through the pilot are intended to contribute to a broader conversation about how AI governance can remain connected to the people ultimately affected by technological change.
The project will also inform future Bridge & Bloom work around Responsible AI, human agency and inclusive technology governance.
Our direction
AI WITH US forms part of Bridge & Bloom Global's growing commitment to ensuring that technological progress and social inclusion advance together.
Our ambition is not to predict every consequence of artificial intelligence. It is to ask an increasingly important question:
"As AI becomes more capable and influential, how do we ensure that people remain participants in their technological future rather than simply subjects of it?"
